WHAT YOU DO

As a Software Engineer in our Platform team, you‘ll build and maintain the core services that serve as the backbone of the entire Base ecosystem.

Your responsibilities include:

• Design, develop and maintain core platform services that support every product at Base.
• Build high-performance infrastructure software such as: Search Engine; Digital Signature Service; Platform-wide Logging & Observability Platform (ELK Stack / Kibana); File Storage & Video Processing Services
• Build software capable of operating across multiple cloud environments with high scalability, reliability and performance.
• Improve platform performance, system availability and developer productivity through reusable platform capabilities.
• Design and optimize distributed systems capable of handling large-scale traffic and data workloads.
• Collaborate closely with product engineers and infrastructure teams to provide reliable platform services for the entire engineering organization.
• Continuously improve system architecture, engineering standards and software quality.

This is NOT a DevOps or Cloud Operations role. You will spend most of your time designing and writing production-grade software that powers our products, rather than operating infrastructure.

WHO YOU ARE

We‘re looking for engineers who love building systems that other engineers depend on. You are likely a great fit if you have:

• Strong understanding of Linux/Unix systems and Shell scripting.
• Professional experience with at least one backend programming language: PHP; Java; Python; Node.js
• Solid knowledge of Software Design, Object-Oriented Programming and Backend Architecture.
• Experience working with Docker, containerization and microservice architecture.
• Familiarity with cloud-native application development and deploying software on cloud platforms.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a passion for building scalable systems.

Nice to Have

• Experience working with one or more cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, Azure or other public/private cloud environments.
• Experience designing software that operates across multiple cloud environments (multi-cloud or hybrid cloud).
• Experience building infrastructure services, platform engineering tools or internal developer platforms.
• Experience working with distributed systems or high-traffic applications.
• Knowledge of monitoring, logging and observability platforms such as ELK, Kibana, Prometheus or Grafana.
